Dienstag, 19. November 2013

Today around 1:30 pm we got the first message from team leader Juergen Arnold: " Hi there, we all arrived well and are in the hotel at the airport since 2 pm. The Pharmacists without Borders came as well, so we are complete now. Tomorrow we are going to meet at the airport around 3:30 am to accept the freight. We might come with a transport machine tomorrow afternoon, perhaps it takes one day longer. As soon as we have new information, I will let you know. Juergen Arnold"

PSF international

Meanwhile, we have informed the "PSF family" and established contacts with other German and international organizations on site - to put out our feelers as far as possible…

On Leyte

On Leyte

The team has just arrived on Leyte and on its way to Carigara, where they are going to stay tonight. The discussions and investigations in North-Cebu did not result in a concrete need of aid. Like most of the aid organizations, it is difficult for our team to get to the worst affected areas.

New Information of Andreas Portugal

Meanwhile nearly all colleagues have arrived on Leyte.
Pharmacist Stefanie Fließ is expected to arrive in Cebu on Thursday.

The first night we stayed in Alangalang in the ruins of the hospital ward. On site we get around in a rented car plus driver from Ormuc/Leyte.

The resoncance of the locals is great. The major of Palo (30 km from Tacloban) had tears of emotions in his eyes when we offered our help.

The destruction is unbelievable huge!

AoG member Stefanie Fließ on her way to the project area

Pharmacist Steffi Fließ, who attended our training 2 for rescue forces at the end of September, was on holiday in the Philippines when the typhoon Haiyan brought suffering and destruction. Fortunately nothing happened to her.

She is on her way to Cebu to meet the Fact Finding Team there and to be one of the two pharmacists of the first task force if necessary.
